As traffic congestion worsens, a new solution might come from our imagination: the flying car. Silicon Valley startup Alef Aeronautics has unveiled its concept model for an all-electric flying car, aiming to make “science fiction a reality.”
Jim Dukhovny, co-founder and CEO of Alef Aeronautics, claims that using this car can cut commute time by at least half. The company was granted exclusive access by NBC News to showcase its concept model, a vision inspired by “The Jetsons” era.
Both on the road and in the air
The design of the car enables it to both drive on roads and take to the skies, offering an alternative to ground-based traffic.
During a demonstration, the flying car was shown soaring through the air, flying over a parked car, and safely landing. However, the demonstration also came with some restrictions, including forced distance from shooting and the lack of access to the vehicle’s cockpit.

Currently, there are more than 3,200 preorders for the all-electric flying car that would cost $300,000.
As the product gains traction, Dukhovny anticipates that regulations will evolve to accommodate this technology. Alef Aeronautics aims to begin production by next year.
