This person would work on the transition from “FOS/Android” to a new Linux-based operating system. FOS refers to the Android-based Fire OS system.
The job description is looking for people to help with the transition from Android-based systems to Vega OS. This suggests that Amazon is aiming to introduce a new operating system called Vega OS, which has been rumored for some time.
Reports last year revealed that the Echo Show smart displays had stopped using Android. However, the company seems to want to expand its ecosystem by putting its own system on Fire TV devices.
Amazon is not the only company developing an in-house operating system. Huawei has HarmonyOS, while Vivo offers smartwatches with BlueOS.
