AMD believes it’s not possible to compete with Nvidia

Ana sayfa / Graphic Cards

AMD is preparing to change its graphics card strategy with the RDNA 4 architecture. Accordingly, the company has confirmed that it will prioritize graphics cards that will appeal to the budget and mid-range market. This means that high-end models like Nvidia’s RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 will be unrivaled.

Jack Huynh, AMD Vice President and General Manager of the Computing and Graphics Group, said that the company’s number one priority will be the midrange market. Accordingly, he stated that they want to capture at least half of the mid-segment graphics card volume.

Huynh believes that AMD’s strategy of focusing on flagship performance has not been successful. In this context, the company will develop price/performance-oriented graphics cards with RDNA 4. It is possible to say that the RX 8000 series will target different price tiers instead of focusing on the top tier.

GTA 6 not delayed? New statement from employees

The last statement about the GTA 6 release date came from Rockstar Games employees. So is the game scheduled for 2026?

Reports indicate that the RDNA 4 series will be inspired by the RDNA 1 architecture. In this context, AMD may launch budget-oriented graphics cards as well as high-end models similar to the RX 5000 series. Notable RDNA 4 chips include the Navi 48 “GFX1201” and Navi 44 “GFX1200”.

AMD’s previous generation, RDNA 3, was characterized by affordable “GRE” variants. The new GPUs are expected to launch at CES 2025 and be available in the first quarter.

Focusing on the mainstream market could help AMD better compete against Nvidia in the gaming world. Time will tell how the company’s new strategy will be received by gamers.
