AMD has announced a release date for the Zen 5 architecture Krackan APU!

Ana sayfa / News

AMD has announced its new Krackan APUs based on the highly anticipated Zen 5 architecture . According to the announcement from IFA 2024 , the new APUs will be released in early 2025. Krackan will be AMD’s lower-cost and more mass-market mid-range processor. However, despite its low cost, it is said to shake up the mid-range market with the performance it offers. Here are all the features and innovations of the Krackan APUs…

AMD to launch Zen 5-based Krackan APU in mid-range market in 2025

First, let’s talk about what Krackan is. Krackan is an APU series built on AMD’s next-generation Zen 5 architecture . Unlike the high-performance Strix Point APUs , Krackan will be more affordable and appeal to a wider range of users. AMD’s goal is to gain a strong foothold in the mid-range market with these APUs. In other words, to offer high performance to gamers and professional users at affordable prices.

Krackan will use TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing technology , which will provide more efficient performance. This APU, which has 8 Zen 5(c) CPU cores , will also be supported by a smaller-scale RDNA 3.5 graphics processor . So, we can say that it will provide sufficient performance for lighter games and graphical operations.

One of the most striking features of Krackan is that its NPU (Neural Processing Unit) , that is, its artificial intelligence processing unit, has a computational capacity of over 40 TOPS . This provides a significant advantage, especially in artificial intelligence-related operations.

Krackan APU will support the latest memory technologies. Users will experience faster and more efficient performance with LPDDR5-8000 and DDR5 memory options. Additionally, this APU will provide 16 PCIe lanes , providing high-speed data transfer and more hardware connectivity.

AMD says it designed the new Krackan series to appeal to market segments where high-performance processors can be costly. It also said that the company’s Strix Point APUs will compete at the high end, while the Krackan series will compete at the mid-range.
