AMD is offering gamers and technology enthusiasts an exciting innovation: FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR4). This new generation super resolution technology is being developed entirely with the support of artificial intelligence. It both improves image quality and extends the battery life of portable handheld consoles. In fact, with FSR4, AMD is taking a significant step in the graphics world and challenging strong competitors such as Nvidia DLSS and Intel XeSS. Here are the details…
AMD Strengthens AI Support with FSR4: Both Image Quality and Battery Life Increase
Speaking at the IFA 2024 event, AMD Senior Manager Jack Huynh stated that this new technology will make a big difference in gaming devices, especially in terms of battery life. In particular, portable gaming devices such as the Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go will gain a big advantage with FSR4.
Huynh said that they aim to extend the battery life on these devices from the current one hour of gameplay to three to four hours . The most striking aspect of FSR4 is that it increases performance with AI-powered frame generation and interpolation technologies.
These features will allow games to run smoother and maximize battery life by reducing energy consumption. AMD used filter-based solutions in previous FSR versions to get to market faster.
However, by switching to full artificial intelligence with FSR4, it aims to provide a more long-term and effective solution. As a result, with this new step from AMD, both the performance of portable gaming devices will increase and players will be able to play games for longer periods of time.
