With the launch of the AMD Ryzen R5 9600X processor, the industry was stunned by a record-breaking achievement. Indonesian overclocking enthusiast Alva Jonathan, also known as Lucky Noob, overclocked the new Zen 5 processor to an impressive 7 GHz, setting a new processor record on its very first day. Here are the details…
AMD Ryzen R5 9600X Overclocked to 7 GHz on Launch Day, Breaking Zen 5 Processor Record
Previously, AMD had pushed the Ryzen 9 9950X to 6.6 GHz using liquid nitrogen, but today the 7 GHz barrier has been surpassed. We might even see higher frequencies soon. Alva Jonathan achieved this impressive overclock using an MSI MEG X670E ACE motherboard and 32GB of DDR5 RAM.
In this liquid nitrogen-assisted process, he set the processor’s six cores to a 100 MHz base frequency and a x70 multiplier. As a result, the Ryzen 5 9600X has now claimed the title of the fastest 6-core processor in Cinebench 2024 multi-core and Y-Cruncher PI-BBP-10B benchmark tests.
Additionally, ASUS’s in-house overclock expert SAFEDISK also broke two new records using the Ryzen 5 9600X, ranking first in the X265 1080P and 4K benchmark tests. Since their release, the Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X processors have been flying off the shelves.
Currently, the Ryzen 5 9600X is out of stock. AMD may have met the expectations of performance enthusiasts and overclocking aficionados with its new processors. What do you think? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
