AMD to use FSR 4 technology in PlayStation 5 Pro!

Ana sayfa / News

The collaboration between Sony and AMD is preparing to take the PlayStation 5 Pro’s graphics technology to a new level. PlayStation system architect Mark Cerny confirmed in a statement that AMD’s next-generation upscaling technology FSR 4 will be used in PS5 Pro games in 2026.

Sony and AMD developed FSR 4 together as part of a machine learning-focused collaboration under the name Project Amethyst. Sony’s current PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology is also expected to be offered to developers throughout 2025 and evolve into a version that produces similar results to FSR 4 by 2026.

According to Cerny’s statements, since the PS5 Pro’s special hardware has a different structure than AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture, a Sony-specific version will be developed instead of direct integration of FSR 4. While it is stated that this process requires a great deal of engineering effort, it is stated that the PS5 Pro will meet the increasing computational demands of FSR 4 with its 300 8-bit TOPS processing power.
