The AMD Zen 6 processor series might arrive much sooner than we anticipated. Last month at Computex, AMD unveiled its Zen 5-based desktop and mobile processors. Shortly after this announcement, details about the next-generation processor codenamed ‘Medusa’ emerged.
According to leaks, Medusa will be part of the Zen 6 processor series and is expected to be released in late 2025 instead of 2026 as previously rumored.

According to new rumors from the famous YouTuber Moore’s Law Is Dead, AMD plans to complete the development of the Zen 6 architecture by the second quarter of 2025 and start production within the same year.
These next-generation processors, codenamed Medusa, are targeting both laptops and the desktop AM5 platform. Additionally, both Strix Halo and Medusa Halo, based on Zen 5 and Zen 6 architectures, are expected to use TSMC’s N3E (enhanced 3nm) technology.
According to AMD’s product naming rules, ‘Ridge’ represents desktop processors, ‘Point’ represents mobile processors, and ‘Halo’ represents high-end flagship mobile devices.
The leak suggests that Strix Halo will have 16 Zen 6 cores and 32 threads, marking a significant performance increase compared to the previous Zen 5 generation. Additionally, AMD is expected to offer better power efficiency and higher clock speeds.
