AMD is working on a new Ryzen 8000G APU family with AM5 socket and Zen 4 cores. Emerging claims have said that the company is designing 14 new APU models with the Phoenix and Phoenix 2 chip. They will also feature the RDNA3 graphics architecture.

The Ryzen 8000G “Phoenix” family will feature a number of important improvements. For starters, the 8-core Zen 4 will be combined with the RDNA3 graphics unit on the Phoenix chip. In addition, Zen 4+Zen 4c hybrid designs will be offered on the Phoenix 2 chip.

These changes represent a significant upgrade compared to the Ryzen 7000 APU models based on the RDNA2 architecture. Thanks to the RDNA 3 graphics architecture, it is possible to say that Ryzen 8000G APUs will appeal to entry-level games.

The report also shows that the Ryzen 8000G overtakes the Ryzen 7 5700G in gaming performance. The AM5 socketed APU processors, which will be up to 200 percent faster, are likely to include much more powerful integrated graphics features with RDNA 3.

Phoenix-based models are also rumored to have 8 cores/16 threads. The cheaper Phoenix 2 chip is expected to power Ryzen 3 APUs.

AMD will offer Ryzen 8000G APUs as sub-models of Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 processors. The release date for the new APUs with AM5 socket is January 31. So it looks like affordable gaming PCs will be booming next year.
