AMD’s unexpected AI move with Zen 5!

Ana sayfa / Technology

AMD is gearing up for its upcoming Ryzen 9000 series processors with AM5 platform. AMD is working on the next-generation Zen 5 architecture that will power these processors, and it has been revealed that AMD is working on some artificial intelligence features.

One of the most notable additions to the Zen 5 architecture will be improved support for Advanced Vector Extensions, including the new AVX and AVX-512 instructions. This will enable the processors to perform more demanding functions when used with certain software.

The Zen 5 architecture will support AVX-VNNI, bringing the ability to accelerate 256-bit wide neural network inference. This has the potential to boost the AI performance of Ryzen 9000 series processors.

Additional AVX-512 features such as VP2INTERSECT are also being tested in the architecture. These capabilities will boost performance for AI workloads, doubling the pipeline and promising more efficient utilization compared to Zen 4.

With Zen 5, AMD seems to be looking for strong gains at both the instruction level and vector processing. If implemented as it is in testing, Advanced Vector Extensions could open the door to AI and high-performance applications on the Ryzen 9000 series.

Earlier reports revealed that Zen 5 will be limited to 16 cores and that the cores will have 48 KB of L1D cache. It will also feature TSMC’s N4 fabrication process and DDR5-6400 support.
