An iPhone-like feature is coming to Android!

Ana sayfa / News

Google’s Phone app is adding “Calling Cards,” a feature similar to the two-sided iPhone feature that allows you to customize incoming call screens. This new feature allows you to use full-screen images and stylized names instead of small contact photos. Here are the details.

Calling Cards are rolling out with version 188 of the Phone app, as part of Android’s new Material 3 Expressive design language. Google notes that the feature is being rolled out gradually worldwide, so it may take some time for it to reach all users.

When the feature becomes available, a banner will appear in the main tab that says “Introducing Calling Card: Customize how you see when a contact calls you.” This allows you to select a picture for your contact from your device’s photo gallery or Google Photos and stylize their name with different fonts and colors.

However, unlike Contact Posters on Apple’s iOS, Calling Cards only appear on your device. This means you can’t design a card that will appear on the recipient’s screen when you call. So, while the new feature won’t be the same as on iPhones, it can be used similarly.

This feature comes with the new “Leave a Message” feature, which automatically answers missed calls and transcribes voicemails. This feature is available on Pixel 4 and later phones. All messages are stored privately on your device to protect your privacy.

Google announced the following in a statement:

What are Calling Cards?

Think of Calling Cards as your personalized calling screen. You can customize them with:
Full-screen images: Set a favorite photo as your background.
Stylized names: Choose different fonts, sizes, and colors for your name.
Custom backgrounds: Try options like Google Photo Picker, Camera, or Phone Album to create the perfect background.

How do Calling Cards work?
