Pocketpair has shared an unexpected April Fool’s Day prank for Palworld, the record-breaking game of recent months. The video made by the studio shows that characters from Palworld will appear in a dating simulation game. This joke was met with mixed reviews on Twitter.
Palworld developed a “dating simulation” for April 1st
Pocketpair introduced a game titled “Palworld – More Than Just Pals”. A romance-oriented sequel to the popular franchise, the simulation game is billed as a “dating simulator”. The announcement was accompanied by an anime-style trailer.
The image shared on Twitter depicts the high school years and romantic relationships of the characters in Palworld. Lovander, for example, is shown as a “flirt” courting other students. However, it should be noted that all the teasers are April Fools’ Day jokes and that no such simulation game is in development.
The game has been controversial for some time due to elements such as weapons and launch systems involving Pulses. The April Fool’s joke shows the company’s humorous take on the controversy.
First introduced in 2021, Palworld introduces players to a world where they can catch creatures called Pals using special balls. What sets the game apart from Pokemon is that players navigate a harsh environment, relying on their Friends, weapons and crafting skills to survive.
According to Microsoft, Palworld is the biggest third-party title ever on Xbox Game Pass. The game’s unconventional nature seems to have resonated strongly with players.
