Toyota has taken an unexpected step for its iconic sports car Supra. According to the company’s latest announcement, the entry-level four-cylinder Supra will not be renewed in 2025. Production of this version will also be completely discontinued.
Four-cylinder Toyota Supra 2025 canceled
Toyota has decided to update the Supra versions. Accordingly, the more affordable four-cylinder Supra will not be renewed in 2025. In this context, the company will focus on six-cylinder and Supra 3.0 versions.
A Toyota spokesperson said, “The four-cylinder will no longer be on the production line. We confirm the rumors that the four-cylinder Supra will be discontinued.” The company’s decision is probably due to the sales performance of the Supra 2.0 model.
According to Toyota’s sales data, more than 2500 Supras were sold in total, including both four- and six-cylinder models. However, the four-cylinder version seems to have accounted for a small portion of these sales.
The Supra 2.0 produced 255 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque from its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It could accelerate to 100 km/h in 5 seconds. But because of the six-cylinder model, it failed to attract customers, despite having a more affordable price tag.
Toyota will only offer the Supra 3.0 in the future. Powered by a 382-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter straight six-cylinder, it accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
