The development process for Google’s latest version of Android continues. As part of this, the fourth phase of the beta launched in April has begun. Google has released Android 14 Beta 4 for Pixel phones. Beta 4 is expected to be the last major release before the stable release of Android 14.
Everything new in Android 14 Beta 4
Beta 4 is now available for all Pixel devices, from the Pixel 4a 5G to the Pixel Fold. Google is planning to release the stable version of Android 14 in August. The latest beta is a good opportunity to test new features and bug fixes before the general release.
Along with the new beta, the July security update and numerous bug fixes are also available to Pixel owners. The update, which comes with build number UPB4.230623.005, is around 200MB in size, although this will vary depending on your device model.
Some of the new features in Android 14 Beta 4 include
- A new privacy dashboard that gives users more control over their privacy settings.
- A new notification permissions system that makes it easier to control which apps can send notifications.
- A new way to manage permissions for apps that are not in use.
- Battery life and performance improvements in Android 14.
- Fixed a number of bugs, including some that caused issues with notifications, VoIP apps and the always-on display feature.
If you’re a Pixel user, you can sign up to the Android Beta Program to install Beta 4 on your device. The stable version of Android 14 is expected to be released in August.
