Android 14 Wishlist: Top features users want to see in the next update

Ana sayfa / Android

Android 13 has recently been released as the latest milestone in the evolution of Google’s mobile operating system. While Android and iOS are both highly developed and mature operating systems, there are always areas that can be improved upon and features that users hope to see in future updates. Android 14 is the next update on the horizon, and there are several features that users are hoping to see included.

Features that users hope to see in the upcoming Android 14 update

Android fragmentation has always been a concern, and some manufacturers have a history of releasing updates slowly. Google Play services have helped to some extent, but it would be nice to be able to use the most recent versions on older phones. Google should motivate manufacturers to maintain device updates for a longer period of time.

The enhanced design of Android is thanks to Google’s Material You design language. The theming it gives is extensive and perceptible throughout the mobile operating system, but it needs to develop further. For example, the themed icons can sometimes be confusing, so Google has had to change them up.

Material You has definitely had an impact on the area of notifications and quick settings, but the layout of that section starts to look the same and has very similar features. It would be nice to see the design evolve by giving us the option to select the background color we want to use in the quick settings, adding a more unique touch and avoiding the use of permanent black (whether you use a dark theme or not).

While Android’s backup mechanism has significantly improved, it still falls short of what Apple’s system has to offer. Yes, we can create backup copies using Google Drive and other apps like Google Photos, but there isn’t a specific program for doing so. Android needs a thorough backup system that seamlessly synchronizes user accounts, wallpapers, apps, and other data so that the new phone is ready to use as soon as it is turned on. It will eventually arrive, and it would be great if it worked with every Android phone, regardless of brand or model.

The quality of the images and videos published to social media from an Android phone is often lower than what is achieved on iOS. It would be nice to see the quality of our photos and videos improved on social media platforms when using an Android device. Google should work with developers to address this problem that impacts many video makers, and try to provide a similar level of quality to what is available on iOS.

For some time now, Google has been working on creating a desktop mode or PC mode for Android, but it has never been formally launched. This was discovered once again in the initial Android 13 update for the Google Pixel, and it is a really helpful feature. With the current pandemic, more people are working from home, and a good desktop mode would be a welcome addition to Android.

Privacy and security are always important considerations for users, and it would be great to see Android 14 include even more measures to protect user data. This could include features like automatic encryption, more control over app permissions, and improved security for online transactions.

Battery life is always a concern for smartphone users, and it would be nice to see Android 14 include improvements in this area. This could include features like better background app management and more control over battery-draining features.

The task manager in Android is useful, but it could be made even better. It would be great to see Android 14 include features like a more intuitive interface, better organization of tasks, and more control over what apps are running in the background.

More intuitive gesture navigation: Gesture navigation has become more popular in recent years, and it would be nice
