Android already has these iOS 17 features

Ana sayfa / News

With the release of iOS 17, Apple has announced several new features that aim to enhance the user experience. However, it is worth noting that some of these features have been available on Android for years. iOS 17, which will be unveiled at WWDC 2023, will be available for specific iPhone models in September. Here are some of the iOS 17 features that are already present on Android devices:

Standby Mode

One of the notable new features in iOS 17 is Standby Mode, which allows users to use their iPhones as bedside clocks. Additionally, when you place the phone horizontally, it provides access to iOS widgets. Google has been testing a similar feature on Pixel models for some time.

Users can place their Pixel devices on a wireless charging stand to access Google Photos, media player, home automation controls, and Google Assistant shortcuts. While not identical, it has similar functionality.

Offline Maps for Apple Maps

iOS 17 will introduce the ability to download maps for offline use in Apple Maps. Google Maps has offered this support since 2012. Android users have been able to navigate without an internet connection by downloading maps for years. This feature is particularly useful in areas with weak network connections. Apple is also adopting an innovative approach by showing estimated arrival times.

Apple introduced the features offered in iOS 17 during the WWDC 2023 event. One of the features included in iOS 17 is the "Journal" feature.

Live Voice Messages

The Live Voice Message feature in iOS 17 will display real-time transcription of voice messages, allowing users to decide whether to answer them without opening the call. However, since 2019, Google has had a feature called “Call Screen” on Pixel models.

With Call Screen, you can delegate certain tasks to Google Assistant. This means that the Assistant responds on behalf of the user, asks for the caller’s identity, and provides a textual summary, making it easier for users to gather information before answering a call.

FaceTime Audio and Video Messages

With iOS 17, it will be possible to leave audio or video messages on FaceTime. This feature was actually available on Google Duo, which is currently not active. Android users could leave 30-second video messages on Duo when they couldn’t answer a video call.
