Vivo has announced a new imaging chip to speed up the smartphone camera race. Called Vivo V3, the new chip will bring the iPhone’s Cinematic mode to the Android world. Thanks to artificial intelligence support, it will be able to detect the background in portrait photos and process images faster.
New camera features available with the Vivo V3 imaging chip
Vivo unveiled several new features for smartphone cameras at an event in China. These improvements will be driven by Vivo’s new V3 imaging chip, which enables faster image processing.
One of the most notable innovations is a portrait video mode for 4K resolution. This will provide a similar experience to the iPhone’s Cinematic mode. According to the company, the V3 chip offers autofocus detection and the ability to change focus automatically. Users will also be able to edit the focus after shooting.
Another innovation is the addition of artificial intelligence support to portrait mode. Thanks to productive artificial intelligence, it will be possible to change details such as background season, lighting and hairstyle in portrait photos.
The company will also work with Zeiss in lens technology. By reducing the light reflection of the lens by 50 percent, it will be possible to take very high quality photos even in reverse light.
The features of the Vivo V3 imaging chip are listed as follows:
- 4K Portrait Video Mode
- Productive Portrait Mode
- Vario-Apo-Sonnar telephoto lens
- Advanced lens to reduce light reflection and glare
- Vivo Texture color support
Vivo has not announced which models will launch with the new chip. However, initial claims indicate that it will be available in the Vivo X100 series. Some features are expected to be delivered via software updates to the X80 series, X90, X Flip and X Fold 2.
