Gaming giant Valve may be working on an emulator that will allow players to play Android games on the Steam platform.

According to a new report from sources close to the company, Steam has been secretly working on this emulator for a long time and the first goal is to improve the mobile gaming experience of Steam Deck players. Here’s the latest from Valve…

Brad Lynch and his team, who leaked various data by analyzing SteamVR software code, discovered traces of the Waydroid Android emulator deep in Steam files. Waydroid is known as a tool that allows you to run a very comprehensive Android system on Linux systems. This discovery suggests that Valve may have plans to integrate Android support into Steam in the future.

The claim that the UEFA app is sharing Euro 2024 data confused football fans. Are viewers being tracked in Germany?

During a database update on Steam, two new images were added, one of which was of Waydroid. The fact that this image has not been used anywhere else suggests that Steam will patent and add this emulator to the platform in the future.

While it’s not yet clear exactly what Valve is doing behind the scenes, this development could be especially important for Steam Deck. Since the Steam Deck’s operating system is Linux-based and uses AMD or Intel chips, there’s a good chance that the Waydroid emulator will be developed specifically for that device. Also, since Steam Deck uses AMD Ryzen chips, it should have no problem running the Android emulator.

So what do you think about the emulator planned for Steam Deck? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section.
