At the Pixel 9 series launch event, Google unveiled several exciting updates to its AI assistant Gemini. For Android users, these updates make Gemini more intuitive and engaging to use. With a new interface panel and glowing animations, Gemini on Android can provide more information without taking over users’ screens.
Android Gemini interface gets a makeover
Gemini’s new interface brings a major innovation for Android users. This new panel offers help when needed without taking up the entire screen. This way, users can get support from Gemini without interrupting what they are doing. In addition, a light glow animation appears around the panel, indicating that Gemini is active and ready to help you. These visual details make the user experience even better.
Google first announced these updates at the I/O conference in May 2024. Now, these new features are being rolled out to Android users step by step. The panel allows Gemini to respond without taking up the entire screen as before. This allows users to utilize Gemini’s help without distracting and interrupting their work. If users prefer the old full-screen experience, they can expand the screen with a button in the top right corner of the panel.
Another update to Gemini is a feature that makes it easier for users to navigate YouTube videos. Now, the “Ask a question about this video” option allows users to get summaries and follow-up questions about the videos they watch. This feature makes it more functional to get direct help from Gemini when watching videos on YouTube.
This panel is slowly rolling out to users and will soon be available to all Android users. Google stated that this feature will be distributed to both regular Gemini users and Gemini Advanced subscribers in the coming weeks. How do you like Gemini’s new interface?
