Annoying development for BioShock 4

Ana sayfa / Games

There are serious issues with the development of BioShock 4. The game, which has been in production for a long time without a clear release date, reportedly failed its latest audits by Take-Two and 2K. Not only were significant changes made to the story, but two key figures at the developer studio, Cloud Chamber, were also removed from their positions.

NEW: The next BioShock recently failed a publisher review, leading to a leadership shakeup and a narrative overhaul as employees worry that layoffs may follow, sources tell Bloomberg. BioShock 4, announced in 2019, has been in development for more than a decade. www.bloomberg.com/news/article…

According to reliable sources, Kelley Gilmore, the head of Cloud Chamber, was removed from her role and moved to a position on the publishing side. Similarly, the studio’s creative director, Hogarth de la Plante, was also removed and assigned a new role within the publishing department.

These decisions by 2K came after the publisher reportedly told the Cloud Chamber team they needed to be “more agile and efficient.” It is also rumored that further layoffs may be imminent.

In a statement to a news outlet, a 2K Games spokesperson confirmed the job changes for Gilmore and de la Plante, saying, “We are working hard to prepare the best possible future for BioShock. We currently have a good game on our hands, but we are committed to delivering a great game.”

The lack of concrete information about BioShock 4 for over a decade is a strong sign of a difficult development process. Take-Two’s latest move, stemming from its dissatisfaction with the game’s current state, has cast even more uncertainty over the project’s future. Given these developments, it’s clear that the current version of BioShock 4 is not yet considered a great game.
