Annoying development for Nintendo Switch 2: It won’t be a feature!

Ana sayfa / Games

In 2017, Nintendo released the Nintendo Switch, which came as a breath of fresh air for the dying handheld console market. As of 2023, it has become one of the best-selling game consoles in history. Nintendo continues to work on the successor model that will follow the successful legacy of the Switch, and though not fully confirmed yet, they are preparing to introduce the Nintendo Switch 2 to users in 2024. However, a recent report suggests that the upcoming model will lack a significant feature.

Nintendo Switch 2 won’t come with an OLED display

The original Nintendo Switch, launched in 2017, offered a great user experience with its technical specifications and design for its time. While it initially received acceptance from users with its LCD panel, the rise of OLED screens and the limitations of LCD prompted Nintendo to consider a change. Consequently, in late 2021, Nintendo released the Nintendo Switch OLED version.

It appears that Nintendo will take a similar path with the Switch 2 console. Recent reports claim that the model will surprisingly feature an LCD panel, contrary to users’ expectations. If the rumors hold true, we might see an OLED version a few years after the product’s release.

The Switch falls short of the hardware capabilities of past-generation consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One. Performance issues in recently released games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have highlighted this drawback. However, it seems that this issue will be addressed with the upcoming Switch 2 model. Previous reports indicate that the product will offer a game performance close to that of the Xbox One and PS4.
