Tecno has laid out ambitious plans to significantly improve the AI capabilities of its devices. At a recent event, the company announced that it will work with MediaTek and Google to bring productive AI to its phones.
Tecno signs deal with Google and MediaTek for AI smartphone
Tecno’s devices use MediaTek chipsets. The Dimensity 9300 and 8300 chipsets will be integrated into Google’s Gemini Nano AI. This means Tecno phones will have access to productive AI for the first time.
Tecno will optimize these AI functions into the Android interface HiOS. In this context, it will work with MediaTek and Google. The company’s AI plan includes integrating Google tools such as Duet AI, Gemini and Gmail AI. The company’s proprietary digital assistant Ella will be upgraded through Gemini Nano. Ella aims to compete with Google Assistant on Tecno devices.
On the photography side, it will use AI for advanced image processing and editing. The company’s AI will accommodate different skin tones and offer tools such as an “AI eraser”. Communication will also be enhanced with AI-powered real-time translation, automatic video subtitles, and synthetic image generation from descriptions.
Tecno wants to significantly upgrade the smart capabilities of its smartphones by leveraging the productive AI technologies of MediaTek and Google. These plans will put Tecno in an important spot in the field of mobile AI.
