Apple today announced that, as early as October 5, prices of App Store apps and in-app purchases will increase in all countries and territories that use the euro. Some of these countries are Chile, Egypt, Japan, and more countries that use the euro currency. While the prices affect App Store apps, they will also affect in-app purchases. App Store prices getting a price hike
The tech giant announced the price hike with a note sent to developers. According to the note, the App Store prices will increase in several countries next month, including Poland and South Korea. Apple will apply the price hike on October 5th. The reason for this hike could be the exchange rate of local currencies because the euro has reached the same rate as the dollar.
Apple will increase the App Store prices in the next month in many countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. The company doesn’t give details about why it increases the prices in these countries. Nevertheless, the brand says the price increase in Vietnam is because of new local tax regulations.
The brand says in the note, “As early as October 5, 2022, prices of apps and in-app purchases (excluding auto-renewable subscriptions) on the App Store will increase in Chile, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, Vietnam, and all territories that use the euro currency.”
The tech giant also added, “In Vietnam, these increases also reflect new regulations for Apple to collect and remit applicable taxes, being a value-added tax (VAT) and corporate income tax (CIT) at 5% rates respectively.”
With the 5% increase in the prices, apps and in-app purchases will cost €1.19 in the eurozone. When Apple applies the price increase, developers will be able to change the prices. What do you think about this price increase in the App Store?
