Qualcomm, one of the successful players in the mobile processor market, officially unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at an event today, putting an end to the long-running leaks and rumors. This new chipset comes with significant improvements over its predecessor and is packed with features that are set to turbocharge smartphones. Here are the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 features:

Qualcomm continues its collaboration with TSMC for its new processor, which is manufactured using 4 nm technology. The processor features 1 ARM Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.3 GHz, 3 ARM Cortex-A720 cores at 3.2 GHz, 2 ARM Cortex-A720 cores at 3.0 GHz, and 2 ARM Cortex-A520 cores at 2.3 GHz. The new chipset also incorporates the Adreno 750 graphics unit with support for Ray Tracing.
Compared to its predecessor, the new processor offers a 30% increase in performance, along with a 20% improvement in energy efficiency. On the graphics side, you’ll find a 25% boost in image processing speed and a 25% increase in energy efficiency. Additionally, it delivers a 40% improvement in Ray Tracing performance.
The new processor supports 4K resolution at 60 Hz and can provide a 144 Hz refresh rate for QHD Plus displays. It also promises a high-quality user experience on the camera front, with support for up to 200 megapixels and the ability to capture 8K HDR video at 30 FPS. Hardware-accelerated artificial intelligence features are present in the processor to enhance camera performance. Lastly, it offers support for up to 24 GB of 4800 MHz LPDDR5X RAM.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 doesn’t stop at these features. It provides a gaming experience that challenges consoles with support for 240 FPS on 240 Hz displays, featuring Motion Engine 2.0 and Unreal Engine 5.2 support. Additionally, it comes with the Snapdragon X75 5G modem.
