Apple AirTag helped find a child with autism

Ana sayfa / Technology

The parents of a child from the United States faced a frightening incident. AirTag, the tracking device developed by Apple, has again emerged as the hero of an incident. The accessory, installed by the parents as a safety precaution for a child with autism spectrum disorder, helped find the child who disappeared on the first day of school.

AirTag has once again become a “hero”

Six-year-old Steve, who has autism, had a terrifying first day of kindergarten. Steve’s mother, Shannon Stoker, called the school to find out more about Steve’s bus route. Commenting on the child, a school employee said that the child was not at school during the day.

The school usually had an automated system in place to notify parents when children were absent. However, this system did not work that day, causing a breakdown in communication between the parties. This is where Apple’s AirTag came into play.

The mother of the missing child accessed Steve’s location via AirTag. She saw that her child was in the same place as the organization. Steve was found on the school bus at the end of the day. The boy’s name was not among the passengers and none of the staff knew he was there. The parents who picked up the child from the institution were shaken by the incident. However, with AirTag in place, they were less panicked and were able to reach their child, albeit a little late.

Although useful in such situations, Apple does not recommend placing AirTags on living beings and remotely tracking their location. What do you think about this incident? Share your comments with us!
