2024 might be the year of AI innovations for Apple. Today, Apple unveils another AI application, this time introducing “Keyframer,” a program capable of generating animations from a single still image.

Following all the rumors suggesting that iOS 18 will be a significant AI update, the company has released an AI image editor. A paper written by Apple researchers reveals details about the company’s new software.
With Keyframer, all users need to do is submit a single 2D SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) image. Then, by providing natural language prompts to the program using GPT-4, users can instruct it on how to animate the image.
The application generates animation code to bring the SVG (image) to life. It’s noted that Keyframer offers multiple editing modes, allowing users to fine-tune animations.
How to Use Keyframer?
Users can create new animations by starting from each prompt or building on previous prompts. You can upload an image of a planet and then request Keyframer to “Create three designs where the sky transitions to different colors.
Keyframer will generate animation requests and show the code it produces to accomplish this. Thus, you can either adjust the code yourself to achieve the desired animation or request Keyframer to make another attempt.
With the ability to build upon each result, you don’t have to start with a final animation in mind: you can begin but also be inspired by how AI unexpectedly animates your image.
