“Last week, Apple held an event called Let Loose where they introduced the sixth generation of new iPad models and iPad accessories. The main devices showcased with many features were the M2 iPad Air and M4 iPad Pro models. Now, Apple has released a new iPadOS 17.5 update, bringing a feature that has long been used for iPhones to the new tablets. Here’s the iPad Air and iPad Pro Battery Health feature…
Maximum charge option added for iPads in the Battery Health menu
Finally, the tech giant has released a long-awaited feature for iPads, which has been already used in iPhones. The Battery Health menu will now be available and usable only on the latest tablets. With the Battery Health menu, newly introduced for iPad models, users won’t need to use third-party apps anymore.
Additionally, just like in the iPhone 15 series, maximum battery capacity has been added to iPads as well. So, M2 iPad Air and M4 Pro users can not only see Battery Health but also use the 80 percent charge option. With this feature extending battery life, the iPad will stop charging automatically when it reaches 80 percent charge.
However, as useful as the new feature may be, it has only been released for the new M2 Air and M4 Pro models. None of these features have been released for previous models. Even if old iPad users download the latest iPadOS 17.5 update, they will still need to use third-party apps for the Battery Health menu.
Apple could bring this feature to all devices with a software update, but reportedly, they will continue to offer it exclusively for the newest devices. What do you think about the iPad Battery Health feature? Do you think Apple should bring this feature to older versions as well? You can share your thoughts in the comments.
