Apple already announced the next generation of CarPlay at WWDC 2022 in June. While Apple’s CarPlay system is already a useful function in cars, it will be better with new features in 2023. According to Apple’s announcement, the new car system will have more detailed vehicle functions like A/C, FM Radio, support for multi-display, and more. Here are the details about the new Apple CarPlay.
Next generation Apple CarPlay expected features
While there are not many details about the new vehicle function, Apple says the system will be announced in late 2023. Additionally, Acura, Audi, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Porsche, and Volvo are some of the expected brands to support the upcoming CarPlay.
Instrument Cluster Integration
One of the most expected features is the Instrument Cluster Integration. With this feature, the new CarPlay will offer drivers integration with detailed options on the instrument panel including a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, fuel gauge, engine temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, and more.
Widgets on Apple CarPlay
In the new generation CarPlay, widgets will be a key feature for drivers. Drivers will be able to see the details such as trip duration, fuel economy, distance traveled, calendar events, weather, phone calls, and more on the screen at a glance.
Multi-Display Support
In addition to the features above, Apple could also add multiple display support to the vehicles. The new CarPlay system will allow drivers to see all the displays on a screen, providing an instrument cluster, infotainment system, and more. Apple says, “CarPlay will be tailored to each new vehicle model to accommodate unique screen shapes and layouts.”
Climate Controls
Apple will also launch climate controls in the next generation of the vehicle system. Drivers will be able to access the vehicle’s climate controls within the new version. The system will allow drivers to adjust the temperature of the A/C or heat, fan speed, heated seats, heated steering wheel, and more.
