Apple employees don’t want to return to the office

Apple has switched its operating model to home-office because of the pandemic. However, the company announced that corporate employees must return to the office for three days a week, earlier this month. It will be a hybrid working model, but Apple employees petition against the return to the office order. Here are the details.

Apple employees petitioned the company

According to the announcement from Apple, the company will switch to the hybrid working model on September 5th. It will be a three days working system. The corporate employees in the Bay Area should come to the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays besides a third day every week, according to the Apple.

According to a new report from the Financial Times, a lot of employees at Apple are not happy with this decision. They want a location flexible work instead of going to the office. The corporate employees are getting together to gain signatures against Apple to petition. However, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, eagerly calls workers to the office to protect the “in-person collaboration that is so essential to our culture.”

The petition says, “Apple Together counters that a ‘uniform mandate from senior leadership’ fails to respect the ‘many compelling reasons’ why some employees are ‘happier and more productive’ working outside of traditional office arrangements. The group is demanding that Apple allows employees to work with their ‘immediate manager’ to decide their working arrangements and that they should not be subject to ‘high-level approvals’ and ‘complex procedures’ or have to provide private information.”

The employees want a flexible workplace where they can feel comfortable thinking differently together. They think that Apple should encourage them to work, not force them. According to Apple’s current plan, corporate workers will be working in-person at the office three days a week starting on September 5.
