Apple is compelling users to make the transition to eSIM!

Ana sayfa / News

According to leaks that have emerged today, the upcoming iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models, which are expected to be introduced in September, will only use eSIM for cellular connectivity in European versions. Here are the details…

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro will come only with eSIM!

While this situation is said to be specific to France only, Apple usually sells devices that are produced on the same production line in most European countries. This indicates that a decision has been made across Europe.

Last September, Apple removed the SIM card slot from all iPhone 14 models in the US, forcing customers to use eSIMs. So users began using a cellular plan without using a physical nano-SIM card and this was expected to spread to the global market.

As the availability of existing eSIMs expands, it seems inevitable that the SIM card slot will also be removed outside the US. However, the transition will take a few more years to complete. Additionally, Apple promotes eSIMs as more secure than physical SIM cards because they cannot be removed from a lost or stolen iPhone. Therefore, this transition will be much faster.

In addition, since up to eight eSIMs can be managed in the Settings on an iPhone, the need to obtain, carry, and change physical SIM cards while traveling is eliminated, making life easier for users. Furthermore, iPhone 13 and later models can activate two eSIMs simultaneously.

With these developments, the removal of the SIM card slot may become more widespread in future devices from manufacturers other than Apple. However, it is important to remember that physical SIM cards are still a preferred and advantageous option for some users. Therefore, coercive decisions may face opposition.

Moreover, Apple has not yet made an official announcement about the iPhone 15 series. However, considering that the company launches new iPhone models every September, it is expected that the iPhone 15 series and the mandatory eSIM transition will be introduced later this year.
