Apple is killing the smartphone world, says DOJ

Ana sayfa / Smartphones

The US Department of Justice filed a comprehensive antitrust lawsuit against Apple the other day. New details have emerged from this case, which questions the company’s dominance in the smartphone market. Reports have revealed that Apple has created some obstacles to make its competitors fail.

One of the most striking claims in the 88-page dossier is the silent rivalry between Apple and Amazon. In 2014, Amazon developed a phone called Fire Phone, which failed after only one year on the market. Apple is said to have played a role in the cancellation of the project.

In addition to Amazon, other manufacturers such as HTC, LG and Microsoft also blame Apple. The company, which has made great efforts to defeat its competitors, especially in the US market, has managed to become the largest phone manufacturer in the US in this context.

Apple can’t protect its shareholders! $113 billion vanishes

Apple's share values experienced a major drop following the antitrust lawsuit, causing significant losses for its shareholders.

Experts have expressed skepticism about the Justice Department’s argument. They believe that these companies’ smartphone failures are much more extensive than Apple’s. From Amazon to HTC, they say, many companies have failed to understand user desires.

The Amazon Fire Phone, for example, came with Android-based FireOS. But it didn’t have access to the Google Play Store and the popular apps of the time. A similar scenario happened to Microsoft with Lumia.

Samsung, Google and many other Chinese companies have managed to survive in the market. Although the competition between Android and iOS continues, Apple is said to have created insurmountable obstacles for its competitors.
