Apple faces a new fine for its practice of slowing down older iPhone models. Accepting the lawsuit filed in Canada, the company will pay 10.6 million dollars. This means that users will receive up to 150 dollars.

The case, which is being heard in Canada, centers on Apple’s use of performance issues with iOS updates to force users to buy new iPhones. In this context, it was revealed that the company intentionally slowed down the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE models.

Apple claimed that it slowed down the phones to prevent shutdowns caused by aging batteries providing less power. However, many users think it should be more transparent about this change.

Developed by Funcom, the trailer for the new survival MMO set in the Dune universe has been shared. So when will Dune Awakening be released?

Judges found this defense unfair and fined Apple. He argued that the company’s actions deceived consumers and reduced the resale value of the phones. As part of the settlement, iPhone owners in Canada will be paid.

Depending on the claim of the users, compensation between 17.50 and 150 dollars will be paid. Users who want to receive payment will need to enter their iPhone serial number on a form that will be opened in the coming days. In this context, Canadian iPhone owners will be able to receive compensation.

This comes on the heels of the $500 million settlement Apple accepted in the US last year for the same performance issues. Let’s see if a similar fine will be imposed on Apple in our country.
