Apple shares features for the Safer Internet Day!
These new features include Screen Time, Downtime, App Limits, Communication Limits, Communication Safety, and more. Parents can better manage their children’s devices and help them use technology responsibly, respectfully, critically, and creatively with these features.
For example, Screen Time provides users with the opportunity to better understand and control the time they spend on their devices. Parents can monitor their children’s app usage and set limits for specific apps by receiving weekly reports. Additionally, children can request more time or create exceptions. Here are some other features:
With Downtime, users can restrict the use of their devices during specific time periods, such as bedtime, which can help children balance their device usage. App Limits are used to restrict specific apps or websites. For example, you can limit games or block certain categories. Communication Limits help control who children can communicate with, which can help keep them safe. Communication Safety helps prevent children from encountering sensitive content and provides information to parents. Parents can also use Restrictions to prevent their children from installing apps or making in-app purchases. Screen Distance encourages children not to hold their devices too close and can reduce digital eye strain. iCloud Private Relay allows users to browse the web while protecting their privacy. Expanded Guidance in Siri, Spotlight, and Safari Search helps children stay safe online. Family Setup allows family members to enjoy Apple Watch features. Apple Arcade offers a safe gaming experience without ads and in-app purchases. Family Sharing allows services to be shared among family members.
