Apple to Pay a Total of 50 Million Dollars for the Butterfly Keyboard on MacBooks!

Between 2015 and 2019, Apple used the butterfly keyboard design on its MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro models. While this design allowed for a thinner laptop, it failed to satisfy customers.

Consumers claimed that the butterfly keyboard was fragile, with keys sticking and becoming unresponsive. There were several other frustrating issues, and even technical support couldn’t find a solution.

Apple confirms the launch date for the highly anticipated 15-inch MacBook Air, coming soon. Here are the details..

Hundreds of people sent their MacBooks for repair, only to have the problem persist. As a result, a total of 86,000 individuals filed a lawsuit against Apple, seeking compensation.

After a lengthy legal process, Apple sought to settle the case by paying a total of 50 million dollars in compensation to consumers, aiming to address their grievances. This offer, initially made in previous years, was finally approved in the California court hearing held today.

A significant portion of the 50 million dollars will go to the attorneys involved in the case, while the remainder will be distributed as compensation to the 86,000 individuals. Reportedly, Apple will make payments ranging from 50 to 350 dollars to affected individuals, taking into account repair costs. However, this applies to those who filed claims before March 2019, as new claimants will not receive compensation.

Apple attempted to address the issues with the butterfly keyboard design but couldn’t find a satisfactory solution. Subsequently, in 2019, they bid farewell to this keyboard design with the release of the 13-inch MacBook Pro. They returned to using the scissor switch mechanism in their desktop computers.
