Apple is preparing to unveil the iPhone 15 series in September. These models will use the USB-C port instead of Lightning for the first time in iPhone history. However, a new claim suggests that Apple may also introduce a revamped iPhone 14 with USB-C.
Alleged iPhone 14 with USB-C port
According to recent reports, Apple may take an unprecedented step. The tech giant will launch updated iPhone 14 models with a USB-C port. These devices will also be more affordable.
A code noticed by an iOS developer in tvOS 17 beta refers to two new iPhone models. Interestingly, the model numbers indicate that they are not iPhone 15. They refer to last year’s iPhone 14 devices powered by the A15 chip.
This code in tvOS 17 beta suggests that the iPhone 14 series will be revamped with a USB Type-C port. The change will also make it easier for Apple to sell in Europe. For those who don’t know, the EU requires all phones to use USB-C by 2027.
In addition, the iPhone 15 models will reportedly go up. It was even claimed that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be the most expensive model ever and its price tag will reach up to 1300 dollars. The refurbished iPhone 14 may be offered to users as a cheaper alternative.
Replacing a series already on sale with USB-C is an unexpected strategy for Apple. iPhone 14 models are not expected to change except for the charging point.
