Apple recently held the highly anticipated WWDC 2023 event. One of the highlights of the event was the long-awaited mixed reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro. The Vision Pro garnered attention not only for its features but also for its price. However, experts say that the reason behind its high price is different from what people might think.
Will Apple offer a cheaper mixed reality headset?
Virtual reality headsets are becoming increasingly prevalent in our lives. In yesterday’s WWDC 2023 event, Apple introduced a breath of fresh air to the mixed reality headset industry. The company unveiled its new Vision Pro mixed reality headset. In addition to its features, the price of the mixed reality headset also drew attention. The AR/VR headset, which is said to be available for sale starting next year, has been priced at $3,499.
Considering that Vision Pro contains an M2 chip, a new R1 chip, a dozen cameras, and numerous sensors, it is safe to say that its production costs a fortune. However, according to experts, there is a different reason behind Apple releasing such an expensive product.
Experts suggest that Apple does not want Vision Pro to be in the hands of too many people. Given that the product is set to be released in early next year, this means a six-month wait for its availability. Apple typically does not announce products this early before they are ready for use.
Furthermore, Vision Pro will initially be available for sale in the United States. Other countries will have to wait for a year or more to purchase Vision Pro. Experts, however, speculate that there might be a cheaper version of the mixed reality headset before it hits the market.
