Huawei has reportedly been working on AR/VR-focused glasses for some time. With the release of the Apple Vision Pro and its critical acclaim, investment in the project has increased. It turns out that the Chinese manufacturer is designing an affordable pair of glasses that will directly rival Apple.
Huawei Vision will be only 350 grams
Li Nan, former marketing manager of Meizu, talked about “Huawei Vision” in his statements shared on social media. He said that the VR glasses codenamed Huawei Vision will stand out with being much lighter and much cheaper.
Allegedly, Huawei Vision will weigh only 350 grams. This means that it will be almost twice as light compared to the 600-gram Vision Pro. This design of the glasses could help Vision Pro users complain of pain in the neck.
Huawei will use 4K micro-OLED panels produced by Sony to provide high-resolution visuals. However, it is said that the glasses will not include a feature similar to the Apple EyeSight camera system, which allows other people to see the user’s eye movements.
Apple does not compromise on performance with its M2 and R1 chips in Vision Pro. Huawei is expected to use its own chips developed by HiSilicon. It is a matter of curiosity how the company, which has difficulty in chip production due to US sanctions, will develop the latest chips.
Huawei Vision is rumored to be priced at around $1750, much lower than the Vision Pro. This means that it will be half the price of the glasses Apple sells for 3500 dollars.
