Apple, known for captivating users with its annual events and introduced devices, seems poised to correct a recent mistake this year. Recall that the iPhone 15 series featured two different processors, the A16 Bionic and A17 Pro. According to recent leaks, the upcoming iPhone 16 series will only use the A18 processor. Here are the details…
iPhone 16 series to feature A18 processor
While the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 series included the latest processors in the Pro and Pro Max models, the standard and Plus models relied on the previous series’ processors. According to the latest leaks, Apple will break this cycle this year. Reports suggest that all four devices in the iPhone 16 series will be powered by the latest A18 processor.
Based on code discovered at Apple, the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to come with the A18 processor. However, for differentiation, Apple might introduce two models: A18 for iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, and A18 Pro for iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max.
One of the key reasons for Apple’s decision could be the introduction of Apple Intelligence features alongside the A18 and iPhone 16 series. If the company opts to use the A17 processor in non-Pro models, only the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max would benefit from these AI capabilities.
Previous leaks also suggest that this series will offer features such as larger screens, expanded RAM capacity, improved ultra-wide cameras, better microphones, larger batteries, and brighter, more efficient OLED displays.
