Apple Intelligence unveiled at WWDC 2024
Apple has unveiled Apple Intelligence, a new personal intelligence system designed to enhance the functionality and privacy of your Apple devices. This advanced AI system leverages the power of Apple Silicon to provide deep natural language understanding and image capabilities, allowing users to accomplish more while saving time. It can perform actions within apps, such as pulling up specific files, playing podcasts, and even creating personalized images.
Apple Intelligence ensures that personal data is processed on-device without collecting it, maintaining user privacy. For tasks requiring more computational power, the system can utilize server-based models running on Apple Silicon servers, but data is only used for the request and not stored. This “Private Cloud Compute” extends the privacy of your iPhone into the cloud, offering flexibility and scalability while keeping users in control of their data.
The AI system is deeply integrated into Apple’s platforms and apps, supporting new writing tools across Mail, Notes, Safari, Pages, Keynote, and third-party apps. It can also understand personal context, such as rescheduling meetings based on traffic and personal commitments.
Apple Intelligence aims to make your iPhone, iPad, and Mac more intuitive and personalized, with a strong emphasis on privacy and security from the silicon up. This new system represents a significant step forward in Apple’s use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, designed to be both powerful and easy to use.
