Apple Developing a Face ID-Enabled Smart Doorbell
As security systems continue to evolve, Apple is expanding the features offered within its ecosystem. According to new reports that surfaced over the weekend, the tech giant is developing a new device. The smart doorbell, which will be part of its smart home technology segment, is said to integrate Face ID support. Here are the details.
Unlock Your Door Easily with a Face ID-Enabled Smart Doorbell
Renowned Apple analyst Mark Gurman revealed that Apple is working on a new smart doorbell and lock system. The project, currently in its early development stages, is reported to integrate Face ID. The door lock will support wireless connectivity, allowing users to unlock it seamlessly using Face ID.
While companies like Amazon already offer similar smart home technologies, Apple appears to be stepping into this space. Analysts suggest that Apple might collaborate with other firms to develop more advanced home technology solutions while leveraging its expertise in security to gain an edge in the market.
According to Gurman, Apple plans to use a much-anticipated Wi-Fi chipset in this product, which will feature a “Secure Zone” for enhanced safety measures. The report also suggests that the earliest launch date for Apple’s smart doorbell and lock is 2026.
Additionally, Apple may also be developing a smart home hub to complement this device. Expected to debut next year, the hub could position Apple as a competitor to products like Logitech’s Circle View.
