Apple’s massive warning: Older iPhones soon losing key services!

Ana sayfa / iOS

Apple’s iPhone users are accustomed to regular updates that improve their experience, but this time, the news isn’t so positive. With the recent release of iOS 16.4, Apple introduced several new features to iPhones. While updates are typically designed to fix bugs and enhance features, they also mean that Apple ceases to support outdated iPhones. Consequently, users must either update their smartphones or purchase a new one.

Insider reveals Apple service cut-off for outdated iPhones

A Twitter user, @StellaFudge, has disclosed that most Apple services will stop working on some outdated iPhones soon. According to their tweet, all Apple services, including Siri, Apple Maps, and the App Store, will cease to function on iPhones running iOS 11 through iOS 11.2.6. This means that users with iPhones on the specified firmware will be unable to install apps on their devices. The change is expected to take effect in May, giving users one more month to update their devices or upgrade to newer iPhones. iCloud will be the only Apple service still available to affected users.

While most iPhone users can update their devices to higher firmware, those with iPhone 5 and older models have no choice but to upgrade to newer devices. Apple supports iPhones for around five years, but as older chipsets become obsolete, they can no longer run the latest iOS versions. This also makes them vulnerable to hacking, as their security features can be compromised.

Apple services cut-off extends to other devices

iPhones aren’t the only devices impacted by the change. The report reveals that Apple will also stop supporting other devices running specific software versions. Affected devices and their software include:

Users of these devices should consider upgrading or updating their software to ensure continued access to key services and maintain device security.
