Apple is in the final phase of Vision Pro deliveries, which began in February. Lowering expectations for Vision Pro, the company will prioritize the second model to be more affordable. Accordingly, it was stated that Apple shared Vision Pro 2 targets to its production partners.
Apple Vision Pro 2 will be much cheaper
According to a new report, Apple has decided to rethink its roadmap for VR/AR glasses. It has stopped work on the advanced version of Vision Pro, which has a $3499 price tag. Accordingly, it has scaled back its follow-up plans for mixed reality glasses.
Apple allegedly sent some notes to the production partners of the VR headset. It said it would not develop Vision Pro 2 as planned in recent months. The tech giant is reportedly focusing on affordable glasses with a smaller target.
Apple aims to keep the Vision Pro’s high-resolution displays. But it will reduce other costs in production. Thus, it will be able to offer Vision Pro 2 at the same level as the top-end iPhone models, around 1500 dollars.
This pricing draws attention as it is much cheaper than Vision Pro. But it’s still quite expensive compared to Meta’s Quest Pro, which starts at $649.
Apple is also considering shelving some of Vision Pro’s advanced features to bring the price down. By making the new glasses a third lighter, Apple will be able to fend off criticism of the removed features. The company is reportedly targeting a late 2025 launch for its new mixed reality glasses.
