The mentioned artificial intelligence system is called “MusicGen” which enables the creation of new music. Additionally, users will be able to create similar music to any text they write.
In this tool, a detailed text input from an artist will determine the type of music the artificial intelligence will create. It can be in the style of the 90s or rock, depending on the artist’s preference. According to Meta’s announcement, MusicGen has been trained with over 10,000 high-quality and licensed tracks, as well as more than 390,000 instrumental tracks from platforms like Pond5 and ShutterStock.
The training process took approximately 20,000 hours, as stated by the company. It also mentioned that different models were created to allow musicians to generate the most suitable content for themselves. Although the tool is still in the development stage, it provides the ability to listen to and download the produced music after a few minutes of waiting.
MusicGen, with its ability to create music in various genres, is also catching attention. Google, on the other hand, is positioned as a competitor to Meta’s MusicGen with its application MusicLM, which converts your writings and humming into music.
