Asus has taken its premium mechanical keyboard lineup into bold new territory with the ROG Night Demon Extreme SE, a special edition of the ROG Azoth Extreme now available in China. With its transparent keycaps, OLED touchscreen, and serious polling power, this version doesn’t just perform, it flaunts it.
ROG Night Demon Extreme SE puts design front and center
While the ROG Azoth Extreme already has enthusiast-grade specs, the Night Demon SE sets itself apart with a full transparent design. Its space silver aluminum chassis and RGB-reactive clear keycaps make it stand out especially under low light. The key layout uses a mix of PBT pudding caps for typing keys and full-transparent caps for the rest, amplifying the lighting effects across the board.
Inside, you’ll find either ROG NX Snow linear or ROG NX Storm clicky switches, both housed in custom clear casings to match the aesthetic. It’s striking, but note that clear caps may pick up oil more visibly than standard ones.

Asus ROG Night Demon Extreme SE includes OLED and tuning tools
Just like its sibling, the Night Demon SE features a compact 75% layout, CNC-machined aluminum body, and gasket mounting. It’s built for performance, but also includes an OLED touchscreen that displays everything from media info to CPU temps.
Other details worth noting:
- Multifunction dial for volume, brightness, and quick controls
- Laser-etched nameplate for extra visual flair
- Magnetic adjustable feet and transparent wrist rest base
8K polling and Snap Tap aim at serious gamers
Performance is clearly a focus here. The keyboard supports a true 8,000 Hz polling rate, even wirelessly, using Asus’s Polling Rate Booster. That means near-zero input delay for games where every millisecond counts. The Snap Tap feature is tuned for faster counter-strafing in shooters, but this board does not include Hall effect switches or rapid trigger actuation.
For that tech, Asus appears to be offering a separate variant in China called the ROG Night Demon 98 HE.
Price reflects the premium build
The ROG Night Demon Extreme SE is priced at CNY 3,599 (~$505) and currently available only in China. That puts it in line with the ROG Azoth Extreme pricing in other markets. No international release has been confirmed yet, but with Asus recently expanding its Azoth line in the US, the global launch might not be far off.
