Ana sayfa / News

A significant security threat has emerged affecting Android TV users. According to a report from a well-known antivirus software developer, a new malware named ‘Android.Vo1d’ is spreading rapidly worldwide.

The same company has reported that 1.3 million Android TV boxes have been compromised by this malware. The most affected countries include Brazil, Morocco, and Pakistan, though the situation is not bright in other countries either.

Users affected by the malware report unexpected changes in their device’s system files. The malware can download and execute various files directed by a Command and Control (C&C) server, making the devices vulnerable to cyberattacks.

One reason for the spread of this malware is that a large portion of Android TV boxes are running outdated Android versions. Devices that have not been updated with security patches become targets for malicious software. While these devices may not hold as sensitive data as smartphones, they still store important information like credit card details for platforms such as Amazon Prime and Netflix.
