First released by Google for Pixel devices, the security updates continue in August. After Google, companies like Xiaomi and Samsung have also started rolling out the updates to their devices. Samsung, which has released the package for many Galaxy phones and tablets since the beginning of the month, is now expanding the August 2024 update to the Z series and S series. August Update Released for Galaxy Z Flip 5, Z Fold 5, and Galaxy S20, S21
According to announcements made at the beginning of the month, the August update fixes 50 vulnerabilities, 35 of which apply to all Android devices, while 15 are exclusive to Galaxy devices. The package, which has so far been released for the latest flagship devices, mid-range devices, and tablets, is now expanding to older foldable and flagship devices as well.
The update, which was released last week only for the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 models in the US, is now being rolled out to countries in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, including Turkey. The new security package comes with software versions F731BXXS3CXGD and F946BXXS3CXGD, respectively.
Similarly, the update has been expanded for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 with the software version F936BXXS8FXG3 and is available for download in European countries. The August 2024 update, finally released for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra, is currently available only in Vietnam with the software version G99xBXXUCGXGC.
Lastly, the update was first released in Switzerland for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra trio with a software number ending in HXG1. If your device hasn’t received the update yet, you can expect it to be released soon as it varies from country to country.
