New rumors have emerged about Nvidia’s next-generation graphics cards, which the technology world has been eagerly waiting for. These rumors do not look very encouraging for gamers: Nvidia RTX 5090 and accompanying devices have most likely been delayed. Here’s why…
Nvidia RTX 5090 will undergo design changes
The release of the RTX 5000 series graphics cards may be delayed, according to Chinese technology site MyDrivers, citing supply chain sources. The reason for this delay is attributed to design changes that Nvidia had to make to increase chip efficiency.
The company has been making adjustments to its chip design to reduce thermal issues, particularly in its data center GPUs. These changes appear to have affected the manufacturing process of Nvidia’s next-generation flagship, delaying its time to market.
The second and perhaps more worrying news is that the power consumption of graphics cards with the new generation Blackwell architecture may be higher than expected. It is said that power consumption will increase significantly, especially in the upper segment models. The power consumption of the RTX 5090, which was previously estimated to be around 500W, is now said to be even above 550W.
Famous technology leaker Kopite7kimi also made statements supporting this information. Kopite7kimi says that there will be a slight increase in the power consumption of Blackwell GPUs , and this will be more significant, especially in high-performance models.
