New claims about the iPhone 16 series are likely to upset former Apple users. Apple, which has not offered Touch ID support since the iPhone X, has reportedly completely stopped production of fingerprint chips. This means that the company is turning to Face ID.

New reports suggest that Apple will scrap its fingerprint authentication system Touch ID altogether. Previous rumors had suggested that it would come in the form of an under-display fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 16 series. However, Apple has abandoned Touch ID in favor of Face ID.

According to new information from China, the company has permanently shut down production lines for fingerprint sensors. This suggests that Apple has no plans to bring Touch ID back to iPhones. It’s worth noting that no concrete sources have emerged so far that Touch ID will return with the iPhone 16 family.

Sony may have to refund gamers

A lawsuit filed against Sony for allegedly overcharging players on the PlayStation Store has been accepted by the court.

New leaks support rumors that Touch ID has been completely removed. The report from China says that even the upcoming iPhone SE 4 will support Face ID instead of Touch ID.

According to some speculation, Apple wants to move to under-display Touch ID and under-display Face ID from 2026. However, the discontinuation of the Touch ID chip suggests that the company will move towards more advanced biometric technologies.

Sources also said that the A16 chip that will power the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will have a different manufacturing process than the A17 chip that will power the iPhone 15 Pro.
