Tesla has been working on an affordable electric car project for some time. Surprising news came from the Gigafactory Berlin for Europe and Gigafactory Texas for America. Analysts at an investment bank think the $25,000 Tesla model will be delayed.
Budget-friendly Tesla may be delayed until 2027
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said that production of the affordable car will begin in late 2025. However, after touring Tesla’s new Gigafactory Texas, Evercore analysts think this is not possible.
Analysts believe that the affordable car could enter mass production in 2027 at the earliest. In other words, the company’s plans to launch the car, which is expected to cost around 25 thousand dollars, may take longer than expected.
Evercore analyst Chris McNally stated that the best scenario for production starting in 2026 would be around 500 thousand vehicles. That’s almost half of what Wall Street analysts project for the affordable car.
McNally said Tesla could start actual production in 2027. According to the analyst, we need to wait at least three more years for real growth from the affordable electric vehicle.
But not all analysts think this way. Wedbush, one of Tesla’s largest investors, thinks that despite slow growth, more than 2 million vehicles will be delivered in 2024. This fits in with Tesla’s plans for a $25,000 electric car.
