Larian Studios’ production Baldur’s Gate 3, which left its mark on last year, continues to maintain its popularity. According to the latest reports, the game has strengthened its dominance in the RPG world. The game, which launched early in order not to be overshadowed by competitors such as Starfield, is still reaping the fruits of this move.
Baldur’s Gate 3 reaches more players in 2024
Baldur’s Gate 3, which made a big splash with the release of its full version; broke the record of 875 thousand concurrent players and was awarded many awards, including the Game Awards 2023. While it was expected that this success would decrease over time after the excitement of its release, the opposite picture emerged.
According to the statements of Larian Studios Publishing Director Michael Douse, the daily active player count of Baldur’s Gate 3 increased by 20 percent this year. There was a 3 percent increase in the number of concurrent players. The production, which even had more than 54 thousand players during the week, saw a peak player count of 100 thousand during the day.
One of the biggest factors behind this success was the mod community, which officially supported the game for PC in September and for consoles in October. The developer stated that more than 40 percent of Baldur’s Gate 3 players use mods and that these mods play a critical role in gameplay.
As in Skyrim, it is possible to say that Baldur’s Gate 3 offers new experiences to players thanks to the mod community. A wide range of mods are offered, from visual improvements to add-ons that add new classes, races and D&D mechanics.
